Inside My Buckhead Loft: Modern Warmth, Hidden Surprises & Personal Style
Welcome to my personal sanctuary — my Buckhead loft.
Oddly enough, I wasn’t even looking in Buckhead when I found this space. But the moment I stepped inside, I knew. The soaring ceilings, the natural light, the industrial edge softened by history and character — it just felt right. As a designer, I always look for that balance of old and new, edgy and refined. This space had it.
Over the years, I’ve transformed every corner to reflect both functionality and a bit of drama — something that makes people pause and say, "Oh wow, I wouldn’t have thought of that, but I love it."
Entry Impact: The Fantastic Foyer
My entry may be compact, but I wanted it to make a statement. The bold black wall (Sherwin-Williams Black Fox, now a favorite!) instantly sets the mood. A large-scale, playful topic from Social Marin sparks conversation — design should be fun, after all. And yes, that console is acrylic — subtle and sexy, but needed the dark backdrop to truly shine.
The Kitchen: Small Space, Big Impact
Kitchens are always a challenge in smaller homes, but thoughtful design solves everything. We replaced an oversized bookcase with sleek cabinetry and open shelving for everyday beauty on display. I mixed light perimeter cabinets with dark ebony shelves for depth. Hardware, to me, is jewelry — and I’m smitten with these glass knobs paired with custom brass pulls.
The island? Treated natural marble — dreamy but practical. For the backsplash, we found a porcelain that mimics marble beautifully, giving the look without the cost.
And yes, that vent hood is hidden — just a discreet slot, so the bookmatched stone takes center stage.
Creative Storage + Hidden Gems
Every inch here has a purpose. That dog crate? Built right into the cabinetry. That bar? Once a pantry, now a conversation piece with shimmering Lunada Bay tile and custom lighting. A full-size oven? Who needs it when you have that kind of elegance?
The Living Room: Embracing the Curve
Designing around an angled wall is tricky — but that’s where a curved sectional and layered cowhide rugs came to the rescue. They softened the geometry and made the space feel relaxed yet refined. I’m always thinking about flow — how lighting, sightlines, and materiality carry the eye throughout the home.
My Terrace: Outdoor Oasis in the City
My patio is what sealed the deal on this loft — it adds hundreds of square feet of usable space. I brought in Brazilian wood, tile, and layers of texture to keep it inviting and natural. The powder-coated dining table with a Dekton top? Stylish and heat-resistant. And for privacy, a chic trellis with climbing greenery creates a peaceful hideaway without blocking the breeze.
Primary Suite: A Soft, Smart Bedroom
The bedroom is a mix of softness and strength — exactly what I craved. A metallic Philip Jeffries wallpaper reflects light and adds dimension. The bed? My own design, with hydraulic lift-up storage to keep everything tucked away. Add motorized drapes, statement pendants, and it’s truly my retreat.
Primary Bath: Jellyfish Heartfelt Details
I believe every home should have a surprise moment — something unexpected. That’s the jellyfish art panel in my primary bathroom. Guests always gasp. It’s bold, whimsical, and unforgettable. And on a more personal note, there’s a wall filled with hand-drawn stick figures from my son — one for each birthday and Mother’s Day. It’s the heart of my home.
Key Takeaways
This home is only 1,400 square feet — but thoughtful design makes it feel so much larger. It's proof that great design isn't about size, it's about soul. Whether I’m designing for myself or a client, I always ask: What can we do with what we have? Then we elevate it — smartly, beautifully, and with meaning.
Thanks for coming along for the tour. I hope it inspired you to see your own space with fresh eyes.
