Home Offices: A Masterclass in Balance & Style

STEP INSIDE these LUXURIOUS HOME OFFICES

Designing a home office has become one of the most rewarding parts of my work. It’s no longer just a desk tucked into a spare room—it’s a space where we spend hours each day, balancing focus with creativity, productivity with comfort. To me, a truly successful home office strikes a perfect balance between utility and style.

When I begin a home office, I think about light first. Natural light is ideal, but not always enough on its own. A room feels complete when layered with lighting that shifts throughout the day—a sculptural desk lamp for task work, sconces for warmth, perhaps even a chandelier that brings elegance and presence to the space. Light sets the tone, and when it’s right, everything else falls into place.

Function is critical, but it doesn’t need to feel utilitarian. Built-ins can be tailored to hide clutter, leaving room for curated objects that spark inspiration. I often layer in art, sculpture, or even personal mementos because an office should reflect its owner as much as any other room in the home. It should be a place where you want to spend time, where the objects around you fuel rather than distract.

Comfort is equally important. The desk should be scaled to the room, the chair should support without sacrificing beauty, and materials should invite touch—leather, stone, or wood that feels as good as it looks. Even something as simple as a chair by the window can transform the space, offering a place to step back, reflect, and recharge.

The beauty of designing a home office is that it’s as much about style as it is about balance. When function supports you and style inspires you, the result is a space where focus comes naturally—and where work feels just a little more like pleasure.
