It’s no secret that I love summertime. There is something so casual and freeing about warm days, watermelon, and lounging by the pool. This season reminds me that it’s okay to be a kid again.
It seems cruel to keep this season barricaded to the outside when it’s so easy to bring that light, airy feeling inside. So that brings me to an important question: Is your interior reflecting the casual and free feeling that summertime brings?
If not, no worries. I have several quick, easy, and inexpensive tips to remedy that very quickly.
Incorporate Light Colors/Bring the Outside In
Nothing says summertime like light colors. Think bright white, shades of blue and purple, soft pastels, yellow… the list goes on and on. For inspiration, just look at the flowers blooming outside you window and incorporate that natural beauty into your space in the form of pillows, blankets, pictures, accessories, etc.
Throw Pillows, Throw Pillows, Throw Pillows
Throw pillows are one of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to change up your interior. With a neutral sofa (think soft grey) you can get away with almost anything. So why not try some fun, summery pillows? You’ll be so happy you did.
Add Floral and Citrusy Scents
Scent is such a powerful sense. It can bring back memories, evoke hunger, spur on a certain mood… Incorporate soft, floral and citrusy scents into your space in the summertime and you are certain to bring a touch of the outdoors inside.
Incorporate Organic Elements & Textures
Fabrics like linen and textures like seagrass automatically exude summer. They feel light and fresh, so why not incorporate them into your summertime interior design scheme?
Bring in Plants and Fresh Cut Flowers
Plants and fresh cut flowers are a great way to bring the outdoors inside year round. However, the variety available during the summer months is much greater (and usually brighter). Enjoy all kinds of plants and fresh cut flowers to cheer up your space and bring in some fresh oxygen.
