3 Ways to Spice Up Your Master Suite

3 Ways to Spice Up Your Master Suite

3 ways to spice up your master suite

Is your master suite falling short of sweet?

I understand.  You are busy.  You work hard.  The last thing you want to do at the end of a long day is think about decorating your bedroom.  That’s why I’ve created 3 tips to help you spice up your master bedroom.  Take it from faux pas to fabulous in a jiffy!

1.

Paint.

You have heard me say it before, and I’m sure I will say it again.  Nothing renews a space like a fresh coat of paint.  Nothing.  Color is so powerful and it completely transforms the feeling of a space.  Light colors feel airy and spacious, while dark colors appear mysterious, cozy, & even moody.

Allow your personality to come through in your master suite… after all, you are the master of the house and it should be a place you love to rest in, so make it one.

Note: If painting your whole bedroom seems overwhelming, consider painting a feature wall.  Make sure that the paint color you choose is complimentary of the color already on the opposing walls, but I guarantee that this will make a HUGE difference.  There are SO many ways to go about creating a feature wall. – Numerous painting techniques, wall papers, even temporary feature wall art that you can use to show off your personality.

Here are a couple ideas:

A metallic feature wall…

A wall mural that you purchase…

2.

Purchase new bedding.

This is a super simple, quick fix with a high impact.  Here are a few things to consider…

  1. Purchase high quality bedding.  You spend much of your life sleeping and its in your best interest to be sure it is high quality sleep.  Great, comfortable, high quality bedding will aid in that.

2. Are your walls plain?  Purchase bedding in a fun pattern and color.

3. Are your walls doing the talking?  Purchase simple bedding that doesn’t distract from the beauty of your walls.

4. Remember, this is YOUR sanctuary, so pick out lovely bedding that you will truly enjoy.

Here are a couple of my favorite resources for affordable, high quality bedding:

West Elm

Pottery Barn

Bed, Bath, & Beyond

3.

Buy lamps for your night stands.

Have you ever heard a frequently photographed celebrity say that, “Lighting is everything” ?  Well, its true.  Light IS everything in a space.  Not only is it functional, but it also sets the tone of your space.  Choose lamps for your nightstands that reflect your personality.

Do you like modern lines?  Purchase something edgy and rectangular.  Are you boho chic?  Purchase something with texture and maybe even a pattern.  Are you Hollywood glam?  Purchase a metallic lamp that packs a punch.

There is something for everyone in the world of lighting!  Buy something that makes you smile.  Again, you spend a lot of time in your bedroom, so why not treat it with the respect it (and you) deserves.  That way, when you sit down on your fresh, soft bedding, in your newly painted room to read that New York Times best seller that you have been wanting to dive into, you can do it in (your) style.

Below are some lamps I absolute love!

Extra credit: Get an area rug

Rugs are something I spend a lot of time considering in my career.  I often begin the designing of a space by picking out a rug.  They are THAT important.  Not only are they a soft place to land, but they add so much depth and interest to a space.  Here are a couple examples of how a rug can add so much to your master suite.
