Design Defined: Monochromatic



A monochromatic color scheme is one that uses varying tints, tones, and shades of one color.

I think that monochromatic color schemes are very chic and sophisticated when done well.  For me, the key is using differing tones and shades of the same color to create depth.  If you only use the same shade of the same color, the space will look one dimensional, but using differing tones and shades of the same color will create real visual interest.
