Design Defined: Focal Point

Design Defined: Focal Point

Focal Point

Focal Point: It is a point of interest or emphasis in a room. You can have more than one in a space, & every room should have one.

Here are some examples from my portfolio:

The Focal Point in this room is the chandelier.

The Focal Point in this space is the artwork above the bed.

This room has several Focal Points – The amazing metal chandelier, the artwork on the mantel, and the metallic, round coffee table that is styled with books and two vases.

Having a Focal Point is one of the key factors to keep in mind when designing a space.  It gives the room visual interest & directs the eye on a place to land when entering.  It also grounds a space… so this is something you must NEVER skip when designing your personal oasis.
