English Arm:

Sometimes called the Bridgewater sofa, the English roll arm sofa was created by George Smith.  He called it a Standard Arm Signature sofa.

Some defining characteristics of this sofa are a tight back (though it can be made with loose cushions), and rolled arms (hence, the name) that are slightly lower than the sofa’s back.

English roll arm sofas are easily one of the most popular sofa styles among designers for three reasons…

The first is that this particular style is immensely comfortable.  One can really sink into this sofa (and never get up!). Secondly, this is a classic form that will never go out of style. And finally, its shape is very versatile so it works well with all kinds of furniture and in multiple settings.
